The FG Sports Agency is proud to announce the signing of 2007 ECHL All-Star and 2008 ECHL Kelly Cup Champion, TJ McElroy. The 6-0, 210-pound, 27-year-old from Golden Valley, Minnesota, spent the last season in Pontebba, Italy where he recorded 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists) in 39 games.  Prior to his time in Italy, McElroy was a member of the South Carolina Stingrays in 2006-07 and 2007-08, the Idaho Steelheads in 2007-08 and the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2007-08 and 2008-09 (all ECHL). He represented the South Carolina Stingrays at the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game in Boise, Idaho finishing 6th in the hardest shot competition with 90.9 mph. His solid play in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons earned him also two promotions to the American Hockey League. He appeared in 16 games with the Milwaukee Admirals recording three assists and 14 penalty minutes. In four years as a professional McElroy has appeared in 225 games, recorded 120 points (31 goals, 89 assists) and spent 421 minutes in the penalty box.
In September 2007 the skilled right shooting defenseman attended the AHL training camp for the Iowa Stars and in September 2009 he attended the AHL training camp for Milwaukee Admirals.
McElroy spent four years (2002-2006) at St. Cloud State (NCAA), where he had 11 scoring points (6 goals, 5 assists) in 107 games while accumulating 112 minutes in penalties.
McElroy’s career includes also one season in the United States Hockey League, where he played with the Lincoln Stars in 2001-02. In his USHL career, he scored 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) with 98 PIM in 59 games. |
